“Any love gleaned from you, I had to beg, steal or borrow…”
Earl,
Being in a relationship with a Borderline Personality gal makes one write songs like this:
♠ Quake ♠
For every question I ask
You’ve got a lie
For every reason I live
(You) Give me two more to die
In the sunlight you bask
While in darkness I wallow
Any love gleaned from you
I’ve had to beg, steal or borrow
Chorus:
The sea starts to boil
The heavens, they fall
The fruit of my toil
Rendered nothing at all
The forests, they burn
The earth trembles and shakes
And everything that once was
Is lost in the quake
And every game that you’d play
I’d have to lose
Of the choices you gave
There’s no right one to choose
So much whiskey and pride
I had to swallow
Crawling that twisted path
You had me follow
Chorus:
The sea starts to boil
The heavens, they fall
The fruit of my toil
Rendered nothing at all
The forests, they burn
The earth trembles and shakes
And everything that once was
Is lost in the quake

Makes me wonder if my favorite 90s grunge bands were writing about this.

Earl,
I know the song I posted here is because I wrote/performed it.
And, having said that, I know – beyond a shadow of a doubt – this tune by Nickleback is about the same thing:
The instant I heard it, I just knew.

Listening to some older Alice in Chains…I know Layne had a drug problem, but it is amazing how much in common the lyrics of being with a crazy woman have with hardcore drug abuse. After all they pretty much trigger the same part of the brain.
Or perhaps it is a cause and effect?

I think I dodged a bullet with a BSC chick – was letting my little head think for the big head (which was waving every shade of red flag imaginable just to get my attention). Luckily, the weather got in the way a couple times, so we could get together – after several texting sessions and a couple calls, it may have been divine intervention.
Life is too short for crazy – no matter what the package looks like.

Tin Man,
Your closing line is bitterly, brilliantly True.
